Sarah Yurasko

President, LRW / SVP Law and General Counsel, ASLRRA

Sarah Yurasko is President of the League of Railway Women, a professional association dedicated to connecting and cultivating women in rail, where she has been on the board of directors since 2017. In addition to being President of the LRW, Sarah is Sr. Vice President / Law & General Counsel with the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA), Sarah advises on all legal matters for the ASLRRA and represents the short line industry nationally on policy matters. Prior to the ASLRRA, Sarah worked at the Association of American Railroads (AAR) as Assistant General Counsel, focusing on law issues regarding safety. Sarah previously worked at Amtrak where she focused on high-speed rail planning and policy development. Sarah started her career as a trial attorney in the Office of Chief Counsel at the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). While at the FRA, Sarah completed the Executive Potential Program through the Graduate School USA, a leadership development program that provides training and developmental experiences for employees they deem as having high potential. Sarah earned a Juris Doctor from American University’s - Washington College of Law, a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs from American University’s School of International Service, a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Arts from Southern Methodist University. Sarah currently resides in Spotsylvania, Virginia with her husband and 5 children, and in her spare time enjoys going RV’ing.
