General Manager
Ted Johnston has been in the railroad industry for twelve years. He got his start in railroading with Union Pacific Railroad when he joined UP's Operations Management Training Program in 2011 after graduating from the University of Oklahoma. After serving in various operations management positions for UP, Ted joined the railroad focused consulting firm of R.L. Banks & Associates, Inc. (RLBA) in Arlington, VA. While at RLBA, Ted consulted on projects ranging from operations and regulatory items to providing expert legal testimony in various railroad related court cases. In 2018, Ted joined The Broadmoor Manitou & Pikes Peak Railway as its assistant general manager to oversee the reconstruction and rebirth of the now 132-year-old tourist railway. After three and a half years and a $100 million investment, including new tracks, new trains and an overhauled depot facility, Ted was promoted to general manager in January 2022 to lead the railway into its next 130 years of operation.
